Canopy..

My poems are nearly always a bit melancholy, I’m generally quite a happy and positive person and I love it when I write a more lighthearted poem. I think some things keep you on a level and clear your head and this I suppose is my thing that keeps me happy. When I have some me time and I need to sit and be stationary, this is usually what I’m doing. Some may grab a box of cigarettes.. I don’t drink or smoke and I see so many people needing these to get through their day or night. I prefer to be productive, to always be creating something when I get that restless feeling, which to be honest is most days..

I dig the allotment over, go on a hike or try to keep busy with whatever a normal and mundane day brings as things still need to be done. I’m never sat down for long and ideas can be flying around in my head all day in the most boring situations. Sometimes lines are lost, the ones that I think I’ll remember but sadly don’t. It’s always handy to have a notebook to jot these down, especially if you can’t have your phone with you, in work or training situations or the battery is flat. I have lost so many good thoughts over the years.

If I write, my stress levels seem to fall drastically. Sometimes I don’t know where the poems come from but I understand their meaning and I just have to get these feelings out.

Where do our poems come from and why do we feel so passionate about what we do?

My Grandad was a poet, my second cousins, my Grandad’s nephew’s, whom I only knew existed last year!! are both poets and one is on his fourth murder mystery novel. This was a brilliant suprise..it’s obviously circulating in our blood.

My next post will go back quite a few years when the poetry bug kicked in and why it did.

Sending you all peace and positive vibes for the day.. Victoria šŸ¦‹
